At the Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence, a consultation to determine whether a patient is pending a prostate cancer diagnosis or has recently received a diagnosis. At consultation, we discuss timely screenings and advanced imaging to gather as much information as possible with non-invasive procedures. Leading imaging tools such as PSMA PET/CT play an important role in helping us understand prostate disease location and risk. Other imaging that supports cancer diagnosis can include CT, MRI, Ultrasound and other PET scans.
Should additional procedures be required or necessary, our doctor works collaboratively with other care providers and can coordinate care with other specialists to satisfy critical steps in the patient's care pathway.
Diagnosing prostate cancer usually involves several steps. Each step gives more information and helps your care team understand your health with greater confidence. Because prostate cancer can grow slowly, we begin with the least invasive tests first and move to more detailed imaging and evaluations only when they are truly helpful.
At the Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence, our focus is on using advanced tools, especially imaging, to help avoid unnecessary procedures unless they are truly needed and beneficial.
